“Ever notice how you’re exhausted… but after one cup of coffee, you’re suddenly wide awake? Why does that happen?”

Does coffee actually give your body a huge boost of energy?

Nope.

Coffee doesn’t actually create energy.

As you get tired, your brain builds up a chemical called adenosine. Think of it as your brain’s way of saying,

“Hey, it’s time to sleep.”

But caffeine looks enough like adenosine that it slips in and takes its place.

In other words, adenosine can’t do its job because its parking spot is already taken!

So your brain gets tricked into thinking,

“I’m not tired after all!”

That’s why you suddenly feel more awake.

But once the caffeine wears off, all that built-up adenosine hits your brain at once.

And that’s why you can suddenly crash and feel even sleepier.

So coffee doesn’t remove fatigue—it just hides it for a while.

Drink too much coffee, and later you might get hit by a “sleepiness tsunami.” 🌊😴
